Minister Boni Haruna Loses Home To Boko Haram

The house of a former governor and the present minister for Youth Development, Boni Haruna, was attacked and destroyed by Boko Haram insurgents in Michika Local Government, Adamawa State.

Michika LGA was attacked by Boko Haram on October 3, 2014, Friday. Parts of Michika that were affected included Kuburshosho, where the minister hails from, as well as Garta.

One resident of Garta, who was named Joseph, said:“They burnt most of the shops and houses after looting them. People had to climb the nearby mountains to save their lives.
“For now, I can’t say the number of casualties as we are still in the bush from where we have just learnt that the attackers had left.”

“They told us that the insurgents attacked Kuburshosho village where they burnt the family house of former Governor of the state and current Minister of Youth Development, Boni Haruna,”Joseph added.

Attempts by the insurgents to attack the Kamale village were stopped due to over flow of the River Kamale because of high down pour.

Meanwhile, over 10,000 Higgi people of Michika Local Government Area are living like refugees after having run out of their homes.

The Higgi People’s Initiative Organization revealed this and said that they were “crying out so that the whole world will be aware of their plight following the attack by Boko Haram.’’
