Adenuga’s Oil Coys top winners at 2015 oil & gas awards

Two oil companies owned by businessman extraordinaire, Dr Mike Adenuga Jr. were the top winners at this year’s edition of Oil & Gas Awards held Thursday night at Eko Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The companies are Conoil Producing which won the Best Company in Local Content Award and Continental Oil & Gas Limited which emerged winner of the Best company in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Award. The event was organized by oil industry experts, Oval Energy and leading business publication, BusinessDay Newspapers. The Publisher of BusinessDay, Mr. Frank Aigbogun, said “the award aims to recognize, reward and celebrate excellence, innovation and contributions of individuals, organizations and institutions to the growth and development of the upstream, mid and downstream subsectors of the Nigerian oil and gas industry.”

He stated that Conoil Producing won the Best Company in Local Content under the Sole Risk Independent Company category after meeting the required parameters such as Ratio of Nigerian to foreign contractors engaged, Nigerian Human Capacity Development Initiatives, Sponsorship and Partnerships and Number of Nigerians in Management Positions.

Mr Aigbogun explained that Continental Oil & Gas emerged the winner in CSR for showing the most commitment to donations, scholarships and development of host communities and also in motivating employees to give their time to CSR work.

The awards were broadly categorized into joint venture, Sole Risk/Independent, Marginal Field, Downstream Major Marketers, Downstream Independent Marketers and Service Sector had the nominees scrutinized and judged based on laid down Oil & Gas industry standards.

The event was attended by captains of the energy, oil & gas industry. Mr George Osahon, the Director of Department of Petroleum Resources, industry regulator, gave the keynote address. Other winners on the night were Mobil Oil, Total and Oando Plc.
