IBM is calling on entrepreneurs all over the world to sign up for its upcoming SmartCamp 2015 competition which will be powered by Jason Calacanis-founded LAUNCH, a company that support founders & inspire innovation.
In Africa, the IBM SmartCamp will hold in Cairo, Egypt; Casablanca, Morocco; Johannesburg, South Africa and Nairobi, Kenya, with applications still open to entrepreneurs in Egypt, South Africa and Kenya.
IBM’s SmartCamp aims to give 10 of the world’s most promising innovators the ultimate startup experience in Silicon Valley, the home of the biggest technology companies in the world.
The competition would be broken down into stages, with entrepreneurs expected to apply to a local IBM SmartCamp nearest to them, after which four to six applicants would be chosen to compete where they stand to benefit from working with top-tier mentors from the local business, startup and Venture Capital communities.
The next stage of the event is an exclusive, invite-only LAUNCH scale event where 10 chosen SmartCamp winners from across the world would be taught how to scale their businesses by influential leaders.
The next and final stage will see the 10 chosen winners pitching live at the LAUNCH Festival for a chance to be the winner of the SmartCamp, thereby securing US$25,000 investment fund and a place in LAUNCH’s 3 month long incubator in Silicon Valley.
This year’s IBM SmartCamp promises to be fun and all-encompassing – it’ll be one part mentoring bootcamp, one part networking extravaganza, and one part epic pitch competition between rising startups from around the globe, where the winner will be named IBM Global Entrepreneur of the Year.
